WHY "AVRIL"?

Avri,it’s spring, freshness, renewal, nature which takes again its rights... all that corresponds well to the values ​​which carries our brand: quality, naturalness, novelty, cheerfulness, colours... With Avril, the sunny days come, we want to take care of ourselves!

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS OF ORGANIC CERTIFICATION?

All our cosmetics * are certified by Ecocert or Bureau Veritas. The labels issued by these certifying bodies ensure that we meet the certification criteria for organic cosmetics:

- The products do not contain GMOs, parabens, phenoxyethanol, nanoparticles, silicone, PEG, perfumes and synthetic dyes, or ingredients from animals (except those naturally produced by them or cochineal).

- The products contain at least 95% of ingredients of natural origin and at least 10% of ingredients from organic farming. 10% may seem quite low, but you should know that a cosmetic contains a large amount of water and mineral ingredients (therefore non-agricultural)... In reality, it is at least 95% of plant ingredients that must be from biological agriculture.

- Packaging is validated by Ecocert or Bureau Veritas for their lesser impact on the environment

HOW DO YOU DO TO HAVE SO LOW PRICES?

We reduce packaging to their simplest form, which reduces costs. Moreover, we do not advertise and we do not pay muse to praise the quality of our products!

WHERE ARE YOUR PRODUCTS MADE?

The vast majority of our cosmetics are made in France, if not in Italy and Spain.

Our accessories are made in Asia, always under a strict control of the respect of our specifications, which are as demanding as for our French productions. Where possible, we manufacture in France or Italy.

The country of manufacture is indicated on each product page of our website in the "Ingredients" section.

WHERE FIND YOUR PRODUCTS?

You will find the complete list of Avril resellers here. However, for the moment, there is only on the website and in Avril stores that you will find the entirety of our offer.

CAN YOU RECEIVE SAMPLES?

We can not send samples because we do not manufacture them. This is part of our green policy and cost reduction, in order to offer you high quality products at a low price. If you want to test Avril products before buying them, check the list of resellers near you.

ARE YOU PART OF AVRIL GROUP?

No, we have no connection with this industry group.

Founded in 2012, our human-sized company is based in northern France, near Lille. We sell certified organic cosmetics by independent organizations and labeled cruelty free by the association PETA.

WHAT DOES AVRIL DO IN FAVOR OF CULTURE?

We sponsor la Piscine museum in Roubaix and provide Lille Opera with skincare and make-up products.

DOES YOUR PRODUCTS CONTAIN ESSENTIAL OILS?

Products containing essential oils are not recommended for pregnant or lactating women.

If the product contains essential oil, this is mentioned on the product sheet. The products containing essential oils are: intimate gel, Infusion de Lavande Fruitée shower gel, purifying shampoo, anti-dandruff shampoo, Fraîcheur d’agrumes liquid hand soap, Champ de lavande liquid hand soap and of course the range of essential oils.

DOES YOUR PRODUCTS CONTAIN BENZOPHENONE-1?

Benzophenone-1 is a UV filter that allows the colour to remain stable and not phase out. It is present in very small quantities in our nail polishes, which are composed of more than 60% of ingredients of natural origin and free from the controversial ingredients that are generally found in nail varnishes.

CAN WE BE ALLERGIC TO YOUR PRODUCTS?

Safety tests are performed by laboratories to ensure the maximum tolerance of our products.

Nevertheless, we can not assure an absence of skin reactions, even with a product that you are using since a long time.

Note: the simultaneous use of different products can also be the cause of reactions.

If you observe a skin reaction, do not hesitate to report it to us to improve our formulas and maximize their tolerance.

MY LIPSTICK DOES NOT STAY ALL DAY

Lipsticks of conventional brands contain synthetic substances, which allow a long-lasting effect. These substances (paraffins, mineral oils) in addition to drying the lips, are harmful to health and the environment. They are prohibited by the reference of organic cosmetics.

 

I HAVE DIFFICULTIES TO SPREAD CORRECTLY MY SUN CREAM

Our sun cream is very covering and protective, apply a small amount to fade the whitening effect. Prefer a smaller but more regular application. It is this white mineral filter, highly concentrated in our sun creams, which ensures an optimal protection against the sun.

THERE IS WATER IN MY CREAM

Do not worry if there is water in your cream! In addition to being essential for the creation of an emulsion, it participates in hydration. However, sometimes there may be a phase shift: the cream will have a texture slightly less creamy than usual but it does not affect the quality of the product!

IS THERE PALM OIL IN YOUR PRODUCTS?

We do not use palm oil but, indeed, possible derivatives of palm oil are present in some of our formulas.

We would like to point out that some ingredients such as palmitic acid - possibly derived - can come from palm oil or olive oil, for example. At first glance, it is not possible to know if it is really a palm oil derivative or not.

Palm oil and its derivatives are authorized by the ECOCERT and COSMOS standards (only sustainable), but aware of the environmental stakes behind this ingredient, we have launched a project to:
- define the raw materials which are certain derivatives of palm oil and derivatives which do not come from palm oil,
- ensure that these raw materials defined as certain palm oil derivatives are certified RSPO (Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil = round table on a sustainable palm oil, whose objective is to promote the production and use of sustainable palm oil) or CSPO (Certification for Sustainable Palm Oil).

We can already tell you, for our COSMOS certified range, that certain palm oil derivatives contained in some of our products are RSPO or CSPO certified.

We are thinking about replacing these raw materials in our formulas, but to date it is not easy to find the right compromise between the elimination of possible palm oil derivatives, the quality of the formula and the impact the high cost of a potential substitute on the selling price of the finished product. For example, we recently stopped old versions of our soaps and replaced them with a new formula without palm oil.

WHAT DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HYDRATION AND NUTRITION?

Moisturizing is bringing water to the skin or elements that help to keep the water naturally present in the skin.

Nourish is to bring nutrients to the skin (vitamins, trace elements, lipids, amino acids, ...) via a fatty substance like vegetable oil to maintain it in good health.

 

 

ENVIRONMENT & ANIMALS

WHAT DOES AVRIL DO IN FAVOR OF THE ENVIRONMENT?

- Avril is a partner of Canopée Reforestation association: 512 trees were planted at the end of 2018 in the Hauts-de-France, 638 will be planted in 2019.

- Most of our cosmetics range is made in France

- We reduce all unnecessary packaging and reuse packaging cartons

- We do not print receipts in our shops

- We signed up to green electricity at Enercoop

ARE YOUR PACKAGING RECYCLABLE? DO YOU DO BULK / REFILLS?

We are aware of packaging issues and are actively working on these issues.

First of all, all our packaging is validated by Ecocert for their lesser impact on the environment. Plastic and glass bottles are recyclable if thrown into the proper container.

We have greatly reduced plastic packaging around our accessories and our cosmetic products do not include cardboard overwrap. We prefer recyclable packaging as our soaps that are wrapped in a sheet of paper. We also develop our ranges to help you reduce your waste: washable cleanser square, natural sponges, oriculi ...

In addition, a bulk system for shower gels has just been launched in our store in Lille (France). It will be installed in our other shops that can accommodate the device.

ARE YOUR PRODUCTS TESTED ON ANIMALS? ARE THEY VEGANS?

In accordance with European legislation, our products are not tested on animals.

Note that we do not have the right to display this mention on our product sheets or our packaging: as a legal obligation, we can not use this argument for marketing purposes.

In order to support the animal cause, our cosmetics are labeled cruelty free by PETA.

Finally, the majority of our products are also vegan, that is to say free of ingredients derived from animals. This information is available on each product page.
